Postpartum Doula (Mothering the Mother)

With all the love and energy devoted to preparing for birth, the postpartum period is often forgotten and it can feel a bit like falling off a cliff.  The moment your child is born, postpartum begins.  When most people picture their new baby, what they are actually picturing is something more like a 3 month old, and the first three months, or the fourth trimester, can be a bit of a surprise.

A postpartum doula is there to offer you education, companionship and nonjudgemental support during this fourth trimester.  We do everything from helping with newborn care, sibling care and family adjustment to meal preparation and light housekeeping.  Postpartum doulas offer evidence-based information on infant feeding, emotional and physical recovery from birth, infant soothing and coping skills for new parents and make appropriate referrals when needed.
